At Berkana our mission is to help you find new beginnings through physical, emotional and spiritual well-being through holistic natural health products and Our Partner Up Program.
My business name, Berkana Farm, has been shortened to Berkana to better reflect our products and services. I am no longer farming and in many ways I am once again at a place of new beginnings. I am now able to offer the products I love and use on my new updated website as well as offer my Partner Up Program which is really my life journey/experiences of attained wisdom that I get to share and in doing so I give the horse a voice and bring connection to the human.

About Berkana - The Story Behind the Name
I began my new beginnings in 2003 with the new venture of creating a u-pick saskatoon orchard. In 1998 life as I knew it was struck down with a moderate traumatic brain injury. I pretty much had to learn how to talk, walk and learn everything again. Every day was a new beginning. A celebration of sorts and a way of learning to love myself through all the ups and downs. Not easy by any stretch of the imagination. Bit by bit I learned the beauty and peace that is brought through experiencing life in the now rather than the future or past, or what ifs, shoulda, coulda etc.
Needless to say I soon discovered I could not manage the venture I thought would be so simple and easy to do lol.
So Berkana berry farm became Berkana Farm where I began raising meat birds and pigs for our home use. This eventually lead to outside sales of eggs, chicken and pork. Then in 2014, the unthinkable, I had another MTBI!
Berkana Farm became Berkana. My life full of personal experiences with all sorts of physical and emotional trauma, has made me a very strong believer in new beginnings. In Gaelic, that’s what Berkana means – new beginnings.
The products
In the mid 1980″s I stumbled into the world of beneficial bacteria. This was quite the learning curve for me and the reason I am such a beneficial bacteria girl. My blog contains a wealth of information and information on my journey into the microbe world. In true fashion I continued to learn and through my healing journey, I discovered even more benefits of bacteria – for humans, animals, vegetation, and soil. This led to me becoming a representative for the Biosa® and Innotech Nutrition® product lines. Biosa and Innotech Nutrition products have contributed greatly to my general health and well-being and I know most will benefit as well..
In a perfect fit with my first passion horses, Biosa offers Equina Biosa. It’s basically love in a bottle for horses. It ensures they get the microbes they need to prevent a variety of illnesses and conditions. Equina Biosa also leaves them with shiny coats, healthy feet and clear, bright eyes.
Mona Illerbrun
I grew up in the Northern British Columbia community of Fort St. James where I was lucky enough to spend much of my time playing and riding my horses in the wilderness. My love for horses and my empathetic nature quickly gave me great insight into the language of the horse, which I have continued to hone over my lifetime. This insight has given me the greatest gift because not only have I been able to give a voice to the horse but now I am truly honoured to be able to share all that accrued knowledge with others.
I graduated high school with honours and eventually, after many years of adventure, went on to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Prior to starting Berkana Berry Farm, I successfully provided extensive contract work for the B.C. provincial government in many different applications. I also successfully designed and taught course modules for the post-secondary sector, the Industrial Woodworkers Association and West Coast Forest Society, among other organizations.
